Emilio Salgari (1862-1911) was a writer of action adventure swashbucklers and a pioneer of Italian science fiction. He is one of Italy's most translated authors and is considered the father of Italian adventure fiction and the grandfather of the Spaghetti Western. He wrote more than 200 adventure novels and short stories, many of which are considered classics in Europe and Latin America.
